Japan are continuing to build as both the Men's and Women's sides enjoy core status on the World Series circuit.

The men have plenty of motivation after disappointing showings in Cape Town and Dubai, eager to build off their 10th-place finish in Sydney in 2019.

As for the women, they have fond memories of Sydney, finishing ninth in 2020 as they build from their first season as a fully-fledged member of the Series.

Here is everything you need to know about Japan ahead of the Sydney Sevens!

X Factor: Kameli Soejima

The evergreen Seojima continues to shine for Japan, still powering over the line at 39.

The Fijian-born Seojima made his debut in 2014, finishing the 2015-16 Series as their top try-scorer.

He still plays an integral role in their side and will be a fan favourite for the Japanese.

X Factor: Wakaba Hara

Hara is one of the brightest stars of the Japanese team, emerging as their key weapon in attack.

Hara’s hat-trick score against Kenya sealed the win and booked Sakura 7s place in the 7s Challenger Series final, which secured their spot in the World Series.

The 23-year-old has scored nine tries in ten matches since then, six more than the nearest teammate.
